Pierluigi Nichilo

Pierluigi is a mechanical engineer with extensive experience in the international energy sector, specializing in hydrocarbons Exploration and Production, particularly natural gas. His career blends office and field roles, demonstrating deep engagement in the upstream oil and gas industry.​

Starting with Saipem, Pierluigi contributed to drafting ENI’s upstream maintenance standards, establishing a strong foundation in asset management and international protocols. He further refined his expertise at Schlumberger in Saudi Arabia, managing in-line well intervention activities for Saudi Aramco in one of the world’s busiest oil regions. His responsibilities included logistics, risk management, and compliance with QHSE standards, showcasing his ability to navigate high-stakes operations.​

Pierluigi's versatility extends to renewable energy, managing operations and maintenance for PV plants at Greenergy srl. Fluent in six Indo-European languages and currently learning Arabic and Chinese, he excels in navigating international settings and engaging with diverse stakeholders.​

With a recent double degree in energy economics, Pierluigi combines hands-on engineering expertise with strategic insights into market dynamics, risk assessment, and value chain analysis. His policy-making experience, developed at the Payne Institute for Public Policy and within EU-focused educational environments, enhances his understanding of the interplay between technical, economic, geopolitical, and regulatory factors in the energy industry.
